Grab your Christmas cookies and spiced wine, lets enjoy!
For as long as I can remember I’ve always loved the Christmas season. My excitement starts from November 1st, this time of the year makes me happier than any other.
I watch these films over the Christmas period every year without fail! It’s my time to be nostalgic. My list is longer than this, but I have them on rotation!
Without further ado, here’s this year’s list:
The Best Man Holiday
The Best Man is one of my favourite films, so I was bound to love the sequel, mainly because Morris Chestnut is a sight for sore eyes! Yum!! The film tosses out weight issues, stripper stories, kitchen power struggles, bougie antics, and kiddie performances for the grown-ups. With an all-star cast, the film is incredibly funny but also incredibly sad.
Home Alone 1
An oldie but a goodie with its mix of cute humour and cartoon violence. The film appeals to the kid in me, it shows a world with no parental control where you could binge on junk food and live as you please. The film also showed a savvy Kevin as he foils the plan of two relentless thieves, an iron to the face and a blowtorch to the scalp among many others.

Soul Food
Although this film is not set in the Christmas season, it never fails to make it into my Christmas rotation. It reminds me of when my family gathers for an occasion, there are lots of people and lots of stories.
Big Mama had an uncanny gift for seeing right to the heart of her family’s strengths and weaknesses, and dishing out firm advice.

Coming To America
This movie is not based on Christmas but Coming To America is a film I watch at least 3 times a year! I think of this film and I’m transported to my Year 9 drama class where my friends and I are laughing and sharing our thoughts on the film instead of participating in the lesson.
From the barbers to catchy phrases like ‘sexual chocolate’ (I dissolve into laughter as I remember this scene), all the characters made an impact at some point in the film. Eddie Murphy’s character was the lead, but his sidekick played by Arsenio Hall is easily my favourite character.

Although my choices are not Christmassy all the way round, what are your Christmas favourites? Let me know in the comments below.
