I have dry skin and mild eczema on a normal day, but every time winter rolls around my skin is dryer than the Sahara Desert, no moisture in sight. It’s during these months that I have to step up my skincare routine. I end up adding more products to my night time routine to make sure that my skin stays hydrated overnight.

I’ve also noticed that manufactured heat dries out my skin, but I have to compromise because London can get really cold during winter just like it has been for the past few days. That’s why it is important to keep my skin hydrated and moisturized. Here are some tips that I use of over winter and can help you keep your skin soft and hydrated:

Find a cleanser that is moisturising. I use Sanex when I shower because its so good to my skin. It’s inexpensive and you can buy it from your local supermarket. For my nightly routine, I use the Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam by Clinique, it’s formulated for very dry to dry combination skin.

I also love the Clinique take the day off balm to remove my makeup.

Hydrating face masks are a terrific addition to your winter routine. One of my favourites is the avocado face mask from Sephora, it nourishes and repairs just like it says on the package. I’m also a major fan of the 24k gold mask by Peter Thomas Roth and The Body Shop’s Drops of Light. All these items also brighten the skin which is great during this dull weather.

Scrubs are a wonderful way to exfoliate and get rid of dead skin that can build up during the winter. This winter I’m using Body shop’s Mediterranean Sea Salt Scrub and a concoction of Epsom salt with olive oil. I also use Elf’s lip scrub and Blistex to keep my lips soft and lush.

Moisturising is key to winter skin survival, you need to find cream that will keep your skin juicy all through the day. I usually use coconut oil or Palmer’s body oil on semi-dry skin. After that I use original shea butter straight from Nigeria.

Hydrate from the inside out by drinking a lot of water! Water does wonders to your skin; the only downside is continually running to the loo *sigh*

Don’t forget the feet. Sometimes I look at my heels and I’m so ashamed lol. To combat the dryness so I can wear my cute heels comfortably, I use Soap & Glory’s Heel Genius and it is indeed genius. To get the best results, soak your feet, rub in the cream while your feet is still wet then wear soaks while you sleep. You will wake up the next morning with soft feet.

(There are also other products that I use sporadically that I did not add in the text).

Remember, it is important to look after your skin throughout the year. Do not be afraid to switch up your products, experiment with different techniques and equipment’s.

It’s a wrap for day twelve! Don’t forget to follow me on all my social media platforms so you don’t miss out on any information!

This marks the end of Blogmas. Unfortunately, I’m only going to doing 12 days of blogmas because of the upcoming Christmas Market Mixer next week and the launch of Vision Cast 2018 the following week!
