Hey guys, welcome to Blogmas. I decided to get into the festive spirit by taking on this challenge. I must admit that at first, I was terrified because 1) how is it December already and 2) I decided to embark on daily blogging for the entire month. Blogmas from 1st to 25th and Vision Cast 2018 from 26th to 30th. (New Year’s Eve is reserved!) I’m still deciding if I’m crazy or not.

While I’m sure it’s not going to be easy, I’ve been pretty good at scheduling and prioritising!

As an introduction to Blogmas, I thought I would introduce myself:

A – Ayo.That’s me! Feel free to have a look at my previous blog posts and don’t forget to follow me on Instagram (that’s where I’m more active).

B – Birds. I HATE PIGEONS! I hate Owls, I just about hate any creature that flaps! I’m that person who crosses the road when there’s a gathering of pigeons just in case one comes after me. I secretly believe they all carry some type of disease.

C – Chicken. All animal lovers skip this letter. One of my earliest memories from Nigeria was killing the chicken we were going to eat for dinner. I know it sounds horrid, but I was so fascinated by the entire process as a child. Maybe that’s why I’m so scared of live chickens in my old age

D – Dancing. I can’t help but move when I hear Afrobeats! The sounds and language go a long way in my continuous appreciation for my culture.

E – Elephants. I’ve always wanted to visit an elephant sanctuary to feed and give them a bath. They are so beautiful and intelligent.

F – Family. Sometimes I wish I could record the endless debates and laughter we have. I love spending time with my parents and my sister, either watching movies or tv shows. My dad is quite reserved out in public but in the house, he is the king of throwing shade (I’ve been the subject of a few).

G – Goals….have them!

H – Hennessey. The only ‘beverage’ I can stomach. This is also a staple in any African household, I had my first taste at 10 years old so maybe that’s why it has become my favourite drink and gave me my stamina. (Just take a look at my cousin starting young 😂)

I – Insecure. The TV Show, not me lol. I watched both seasons whilst on a cruise this summer. I loved the writing, the music and the evolution of the characters. #BlackGirlMagic

J – Jesus. My Saviour, Rock, Comforter, Protector…I could go on! I love me some Jesus!

K – Karma. Always put your best foot forward, sounds very cliché but it’s very true. You never know who you will meet in the future.

L – Laughter. One of the greatest gifts from God. I am at my happiest when I’m laughing with my loved ones and having good banter.

M – Music. This is my escape from the world! From Jazz to Hip Hop to Rap, I love them all but 90s R’n’B is where my heart is! Confession time: I used to attempt writing music when I was younger (side eye) that didn’t last long.

N – Nollywood. Not the new-school Nollywood movies that air on Netflix, I’m talking about the Yoruba movies on YouTube with grammar errors in the subtitles, music over the dialogue and unnecessarily long. Who needs a 3-part film when with good editing and storytelling skills it can be shortened into 1-part?

O – Orange is the new black. I never understood the hype of the show, I gave it three episodes and I got bored. It just wasn’t for me.

P – Planets. No not the universe kind. My friends and I dubbed ourselves ‘Planets’ and we each had our corresponding planet. I was Mars…

Q – Quality Time (with yourself). We live in a society where it can sometimes be difficult to tune out the noise around you. Whether it’s the people closest to you or the disheartening news you hear on tv, getting away from it all will improve your attitude, restore your energy and uplift you.

R – Relax and Review. This is something I practice doing every Friday. I review my week to see my highs and lows, I assess my accomplishments and then decided what I should drop or carryover.

S – Snacks. Cakes, sweets, crisps, pastries…I like them all! The pick and mix section at the cinema is by far my favourite, I fill my bag with mainly fudge and strawberries *yum*

T – The Lion King. The best live show ever! From the lights, to the costumes, the music, everything was amazing! If you haven’t seen it do yourself a favour and buy a ticket. You won’t regret it.

U – Untidy. I can’t seem to keep my wardrobe tidy for more than a week. It’s a continuous battle that I seem to be losing. I’ve tried several ways of rearranging my clothes and I can’t seem to find one that works.

V – Vegan. What I’m trying to be and have wonderfully failed at! Every time I think I’m getting the hang of it, the carnivore in me rears its ever-delicious head. So now I just focus on having a balanced diet.

W – Words of affirmation. My highest-ranking love language. There’s a warm fuzzy feeling that comes from within when my loved ones vocally show appreciation or just tell me well done.

X – X chromosome…we all have it.

Y – Yemisi. My not so baby sister who I have an unhealthy obsession with. I call her for every little thing, every day and probably every hour. It drives her insane hehe

Z – zzzz. My favourite thing to do is lay in bed and watch 90s TV shows like Martin, Living Single and Fresh Prince till I fall asleep.

That’s it for day one! Don’t forget to follow me on my social media platforms so you don’t miss out on any information!

See you tomorrow for Blogmas day two! ✌🏾
