I made the executive decision to cancel the ‘Start Your Own Enterprise Masterclass’ for several reasons, most of which are personal but I will give you some insight.
When I decided to start my business, I had a vision of how wanted my events to run. I had given thought to the venues I wanted, the food I wanted to serve, the atmosphere I was trying to create with every event. I love knowing that the attendees paid for a worthwhile experience.
The smart thing to do when starting a business is to seek counsel and that is exactly what I did. Unfortunately for me, I took on too many opinions and lost my voice in the process.
Not to say the opinions of others were not valid, but they weren’t what I truly wanted to do deep down. That aside, I appreciate everyone that has taken time out to advise me.
I was informed that the best thing would be to host events monthly to stay relevant and build my brand. I quickly learned that monthly events were not possible especially because I was blogging and trying to build my social media presence as well as building my career (this is paramount). Added to that is my commitment to Church, my role as a school governor and a Board Trustee at Girls Brigade England and Wales. I won’t bore you with my to-do list…
Which brings me to this masterclass, simply put, my heart just wasn’t in it. I wasn’t as excited to plan this masterclass as I was about planning the Lunch and Learn event in August. Things were just not falling into place and I believe it is because God knew that I wasn’t following my vision for my brand and I was only doing something out of fear that I wouldn’t be relevant.
I had let fear of people not buying into MY vision or not believing in MY dreams drive me into compromising myself and almost hosting an event that I knew I would not have been happy with.
My vision for my business speaks volumes about the types of events I want to be known to host. I want people to leave knowing they have had an experience. I am very thorough about my planning, I know how I want attendees to feel from the minute they walk in, all the way through the event until they walk out again.
With all that said, I have decided to cancel the event. Expect something bigger, better and put together with my heart in it! In the meantime, keep up with me on Instagram, Twitter and right here on my blog. October is set to be a great month!
